Howard the Artist

While sorting out my Mum’s stuff last week, I discovered some drawings that she’d removed from my bedroom wall in Whitley Bay. I had left home and so they redecorated my bedroom. My dark red walls were now pattered blue wallpaper. Oh dear. I am so glad they kept my drawings and posters. So today, I scanned them in, along some others that I had saved myself. I mentioned the artwork to Gordon and he said he really like to see it. So here, in all in slightly odd glory, are my sketches and drawings from when I was a teenager.

Pride of place must go to the Map of Middle Earth, copied from volume III of The Lord of the Rings (a book I won at Whitley Bay Grammar School for the story I wrote for the school magazine). I drew the map and all the writing, with my Parker fountain pen!
